Lumbar Spine

lumbar spine
Dos this have anything to do with Osteoarthritis of the Lumbar Spine? I was diagnosed with it.?

Legs are giving out, especially from knees to hips, and it also causes loss of balance. There is pain, but it feels like it is in the muscle instead of the bone.

It sounds like sciatic nerve involvement which could hjappen esp with the OA in the spine because the inflammation can press on the sciatic nerve which could cause numbess, pain, weakness in those areas.

I would still go to the doctor if I were you just to make sure it isnt something even more serious like a neuromuscular problem but that isn’t very likely since they are thankfully rare and tend to start in certain patterns.

I would say this is likely related to the back OA. I bet if you are on meds for the OA as well as glucosamine cause that can help with the bone loss and maybe some physical therapy, that will help decrease the pressure on your spine and hopefully allievate the leg issues.

Sounds like it might help you to use a walker for now. I use one of those wheeled ones with the seats and im young. Im 30 but have had rheumatoid arth since i was little so I find the walker very helpful to me so i dont fall and always have a place to rest…

good fortune
